Luxury kitchen brief
Keeping a sense of scale while meeting design expectations for such a large area is the challenge. The brief was to create a luxurious contemporary space that allows for functional, entertainment, and relaxation zones.
The entire team at Wood, Marble & White worked toward delivering this brief and then some.
First and lasting impressions
On entering the new kitchen, your eyes are drawn to the oversized island with its gorgeous stone. Brushed titanium reflected in the powder coated posts and kicks.
It is luxe with no hint of feeling overbearing.
The opulence and luxury of this ground floor space is mirrored by cabinetry throughout the rest of the house.
Final words
Along with the lovely Caesarstone in the kitchen, praise is also due for the use of Laminex’s Black Nuance and Polytec Gloss Wenge. And then there’s the amazing glass splashbacks from WaterArt.
WORK OF ART
Sometimes what you envisioned for your kitchen may not be as perfect as you first thought. When the owners of this room presented Wood, Marble & White with their Hamptons-style ideas, they also brought a tile they felt truly inspired by. But to Wood, Marble & White’s expert eyes, the tile felt more Art Deco than beachy in inspiration — and so this stunning kitchen was born.
While it may not have the traditional Hamptons look, this room doesn’t sacrifice the light features that are hallmarks of that seaside aesthetic. Instead, white cabinetry is used to keep the room feeling bright, with the white stone benchtop and splashback ensuring the black central island makes a statement without overwhelming.
Brushed-brass handles are features of this kitchen, with the wood flooring also adding warmth to the space. But when admiring this room you cannot go past the detailed Art Deco profiling in the display cabinetry plus some of the pantry and bar. This hero of the kitchen simply screams Art Deco.
Colours and design weren’t the only challenges Wood, Marble & White faced during this build. The owners are passionate entertainers and a large island was a requirement to accommodate this, plus a separate pantry space for preparation and a bar area to accommodate drinks. This meant redesigning the floor plan and removing several walls. Outside sliders were also removed and striking bifolds added to extend the kitchen space into the outdoor area. This clever design has ensured that not only is this kitchen a true work of art, it’s also a highly functional space.
